CliNICSATYOURCLUB Swim Skills offer a comprehensive range of Club Clinics, including our MOT range, which cover everything from swimming and land training techniques, to assisting with Action Planning and Swim21 accreditation. Clinics are tailor made at your club, under the personal direction of a Senior Great Britain Coach, supported by other experienced coaches. TECHNIQUECliNICLOGISTICS The number of swimmers attending the clinic depends on the size of the pool, and the necessities of funding the clinic (clubs typically make a charge to their swimmers and those from other local clubs). Swimmers would usually be grouped into two age groups, one in the pool and one in the lecture/land session. 6 x 25 metre pool STROKE TECHNIQUE 60 SWIMMERS 6 x 25 metre pool STARTS AND TURNS 66 SWIMMERS
In order to host a Swim Skills clinic, you would require, in addition to the use of a pool for the day, a room with video facilities, OHP, and a suitable location for land training. The timing of the clinic can be organised around pool availability (e.g. 9-4; 10-5; 12-7)
TECHNIQUEBASEDCLUBCliNICS Swim Skills are keen to work in partnership with club coaching staff to provide the very best long term benefits to your swimmers and an avenue for continuous professional development for your coaches. The specific content of clinics is identified in consultation with key club personnel. Technique clinics frequently focus on the following: FRONT CRAWL AND BACKSTROKE BREASTSTROKE AND BUTTERFLY STARTS AND TURNS SMART TRAINING & LEADERSHIP SKILLS SPORT PSYCHOLOGY FOR SWIMMERS AND COACHES Clinics involve the breaking down of skills into the essential components that must be carried out correctly if the technique is to be mastered fully. Work in the pool is reinforced through the use of a video/lecture format, while land training sessions provide explanation and practice of age appropriate exercises that develop the important areas of flexibility and core strength for swimmers. During clinics focussing on smart training principles, the aim is to develop swimmers' ability to monitor and control training in order to optimise the training effect. Workshops can also be provided to develop coaches' knowledge of current trends in training and to develop their leadership and motivational skills. |
