Gold Medal Starts & Turns - Led personally by Bill Furniss!!
SwimSkills Starts & Turns clinics are an amazing opportunity to work on these vital skills in a structured, technique-focussed environment with expert coaches. The SwimSkills method, developed by Bill Furniss will simplify these sometimes confusing skills enabling you to start, turn, and finish faster!
Using a carefully structured programme of progressive skill development, you will be guided to make real improvements in your starting and turning techniques - the easy way to a pb!
Work in small groups with expert coaching to improve your starts and turns (All 4 strokes).
- Eligibility: ASA registered competitive swimmers (9-16 years)
- Max Number per group: 20
- Duration: 1 day
- Working in smaller groups, Bill Furniss will lead you through a highly structured sequence of drill and practices that will enable you to put in place the fundamental skills of starting and turning.
- All pool sessions are led by Bill Furniss and supported by another GB coach, with individualised skill correction and feedback.
- This is not a training session – you don’t have to fight for your place in the lane. The focus is on skill quality using drill progressions developed by Rebecca Adlington's coach, Bill Furniss.
- Learning in the pool is reinforced by interactive lectures using video footage of top swimmers (the ‘why' as well as the ‘how’ of swimming technique)
- Age-group appropriate land training for flexibility, core stability and injury protection.
- Understand how the techniques work and why the skills we teach you are important.
- Learn mental training and confidence-building strategies
- One of Britain’s international swimmers will give demonstrations and sign autographs.
- COURSE FEE: £157
The day will begin with registration at 8.45 am ready for a prompt start at 9.00 am and will finish at 4.00 pm.
SWIMMERS: Please bring a packed lunch and water for the day – hot drinks will be provided. Bear in mind you will be in the water twice and dry kit for the second session might be nice!
PARENTS / COACHES are welcome to attend all sessions at a cost of £12 for the day which includes hot drinks.

SwimSkills Strokes clinics are a unique opportunity to work on stroke development with a carefully structured programme of drill progressions, developed by top GB Coach, Bill Furniss. Understand how the strokes work and why the techniques we teach you are important.
Work in small groups with expert coaching to improve your stroke technique (TWO strokes)
- Eligibility: ASA registered competitive swimmers (9-16 years)
- Max Number per lane: 4
- Duration: 1 day
- All pool sessions are led by Bill Furniss and supported by another GB coach, with individualized stroke correction and feedback
- Clinics available: breaststroke and butterfly; front crawl & backstroke
- This is not a training session – you don’t have to fight for your place in the lane. The focus is on skill quality, using drill progressions developed by Rebecca Adlington's coach, Bill Furniss.
- Learning in the pool is reinforced by interactive lectures using video footage of top swimmers (the ‘why' as well as the ‘how’ of swimming technique)
