Gold Medal Starts & Turns - Led by Bill Furniss

ist2_678309-medallionsSwimSkills Starts & Turns clinics are a unique opportunity to work on these vital skills with expert coach, Bill Furniss.  Improve your dives, turns, and underwater work and learn how to makes starts and turns your competitive strength! 
With the SwimSkills method, you will be guided to make real improvements in your starting and turning techniques - the easy way to a pb!

 

Aim: Technique improvement in SMALL GROUPS with more individual attention (Covers starts and turns of all four strokes)

  • Ability Level: ASA registered competitive swimmers (9-16 years)
  • Max 20 swimmers per group
  • Duration: 1 day
  • Working in smaller groups, Bill Furniss will lead you through a highly structured sequence of drill and practices that will enable you to put in place the fundamental skills of starting and turning.
  • All pool sessions are led by Bill Furniss and supported by another GB coach, enabling individual feedback on technique
  • This is not a training session – you don’t have to fight for your place in the lane. All the work is short distance, high quality using drill progressions developed by Bill Furniss.
  • Learning in the pool is reinforced by interactive lectures using video footage of top swimmers (the ‘why' as well as the ‘how’ of swimming technique)
  • Bill Furniss will lead you through a highly structured sequence of drill and practices that will enable you to put in place the fundamental skills of starting and turning.
  • Age-group appropriate land training for flexibility, core stability and injury protection.
  • Understand how the techniques work and why the skills we teach you are important.
  • Mental training and confidence-building strategies
  • One of Britain’s international swimmers will give demonstrations and sign autographs.

The day will begin with registration at 8.45 am ready for a prompt start at 9.00 am and will finish at 4.00 pm.

SWIMMERS: Please bring a packed lunch and water for the day – hot drinks will be provided. Bear in mind you will be in the water twice and dry kit for the second session might be nice!

PARENTS / COACHES are welcome to attend all sessions at a cost of £12 for the day which includes hot drinks.
